A summer camp for boys was started in this area in 1922 at a time when it was a bayberry covered wilderness on the route of the Long Beach Railroad. Now, Brant Beach lies between Ship Bottom and Beach Haven Crest from 31st Street to 74th. Below Long Beach Boulevard, 53rd through 74th streets bear the names of Naval officers of the nineteenth century and are part of the original development of Brant Beach.
